We need volunteers year-round at the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid to help us process shoes as we receive them in our warehouse. If you are in the North Texas area, consider
volunteering as an individual or schedule a group from your church, civic organization or business to volunteer.

We also are seeking Volunteer Captains to assist regularly in the warehouse. What will I be doing as a volunteer?
You will help process, sort and/or pack shoes, hygiene kits, school supplies, clothing, or medical supplies. There may be other seasonal projects available during your scheduled volunteer shift.
When can I volunteer?
The Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid accepts volunteers from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday.
The two available shifts are:
9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
1 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Who is eligible to volunteer?
Anyone with a willingness to serve can help. Children (age 18 and under) are welcome to volunteer with an adult. It’s the perfect activity for your church, school or community group.
What if I have a physical disability or restriction?
We welcome volunteers with disabilities. Some jobs involve sitting and do not require any lifting heavier than a pair of shoes. We will find a job that’s right for you!
What do I need to wear?
Will there be anything to eat or drink?
Yes, we provide snacks and water for all volunteers. Donations are accepted. However, if you would like to bring your own lunch or snacks for the day, you are welcome to do so.
Will I need to bring anything else?
New shoes and socks are always welcomed. Many of our volunteers host shoe drives prior to their scheduled shift and bring their collected items with them to the Buckner Center for Humanitarian Aid.
Will we have any instructions prior to volunteering?
Yes, you will receive a brief orientation about Buckner International and Shoes for Orphan Souls along with training and instructions before you begin.
Can I receive community service hours for volunteering with SOS?
You may receive credit for school or civic organization community service hours. Our staff will be able to sign any paperwork.
Do you need groups or individuals to volunteer?
We welcome both. Many groups find that processing shoes and other humanitarian aid together is a great bonding activity. We can accommodate a maximum of 40 volunteers per shift.
Can I travel to deliver shoes to children?
Yes, volunteers travel with Buckner International to deliver the shoes and meet the children who benefit from Shoes for Orphan Souls.
Buckner handles all the details for your overseas travel, including hotels (based on double occupancy at a standard hotel), meals, cultural events, translators, in-country transportation, travel insurance and visas.
